Aloha, my name is Chris and I’m the founder and creative director of Huakaʻi Creative. I grew up here in Hawaiʻi and believe small businesses and nonprofits strengthen our community by fostering authentic connections and providing goods and services that better meet the needs of our island ʻohana. That’s why I’m here to help.
With 10 years of professional communication and design experience, I specialize in creating solutions to help your business or cause get established and stand out. I love to create—whether its building websites, designing unique logos, or crafting effective messaging. My passion is the process and I approach each of my client projects with attention, care, and enthusiasm.

How much do your services cost?
Pricing can vary depending on the scope of your project but I base my estimates on a rate of $45/hr (or $40/hr for nonprofits). Please contact me to discuss the details of your project and get a customized estimate.
How long will my project take to complete?
The timeline to complete a project can vary depending on the scope, development, and revision process. Most web design projects take 10-15 business days while logos generally take 7-10 days. I will share the timeline to complete your project up front.
How do we get started?
Contact me using this form and we can set up a time to talk. I’ll learn about your needs and goals so I can draw up a free proposal and estimate. If we decide to work together, I charge half of the project cost up front to begin work with the remaining half due upon completion.
Do you work with businesses outside of Hawaiʻi?
Yes! I love supporting local clients but I also work with businesses across the country through virtual collaboration.
What website platforms do you use?
I usually build websites using WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Hostinger or similar platforms. I prefer WordPress because it is free and very flexible in features. All my WordPress websites are built using the Divi theme and visual builder. Divi is highly customizable and makes it easy for you to make changes to your site.
Do you handle website hosting?
Yes! I will set up your website using a reliable hosting service that includes a free domain name, SSL, email, and scheduled backups.
Can you work with an existing logo and brand?
Absolutely. I can build on your existing brand or start fresh—whatever best fits your goals.
Can you create the content for my website?
Yes! In additional to web design and development, I have experience crafting SEO-friendly content to promote your products and services. I also curate professional, hi-res images and illustrations to make your website stand out.
Will I be able to update my website myself after it's built?
Yes! I design user-friendly websites and can provide training so you can make updates with ease.
What is your process for logo design?
- Discovery phase: I ask a series of questions about your business to guide the design process.
- Market research: I study your industry and local competitors to ensure we create a unique design.
- Concepts: I draft several logo concepts based on your input, the design brief, and market research.
- Revision: Once we settle on a design, I’ll work on refining and revising the logo until you’re happy with it.
- Production: I deliver finalized logos in 5 file formats with various orientations and colors so you can use it in any scenario.
